Anime: Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari Season 3 6c431d

Sigh... OK let's start this review right because I'm legit pissed off and have a headache after watching this season because of the many reasons I will go over and hopefully people will stay away from this steaming pile of shit! However before I start this off there is something that I have to mention and that is that both season 2 and season 3 had different people working on it and that's why this series took a nose dive into Hell and will not be as good as the first season, no matter how many more seasons they produce it will never live up to season 1 so keep that in mind.

OK, you got all that? Good then let's continue with the actual review and I will do my best to actually explain everything in details and be warned there are gonna be spoilers but to be honest I don't give a fuck and neither will you.

STORY 1l4x2o

Season 3 takes place after season 2, however for some fucked reason it doesn't take place straight after season 2 but a little bit after that and while I want to type that this is a good thing, it isn't. They throw you straight into a fight between the main party and some nobodies and this takes place within an arena, it cuts and now we are in a scene with the queen that explains that the heroes have gone missing and that they have to find them and forces before the next "guardian beast" shows up. There are many animes that start off this way, as in the party being somewhere else entirely and then it slowly builds up towards it, however here they spoil it in first episode so why make it mysterious from the get-go only to throw it away a few minutes later... I don't know, maybe they fell and hit their head and couldn't what they were doing. Also I want to point out that they feel the need to introduce the main character yet again and what he is doing there, like we wouldn't know already, I mean who the Hell starts a show on season 3. We also learn that Iwatani Naofumi needs to strengthen his defenses in his town for the battle(s) and yet this was never a problem before but it is now for some reason. Anyway he needs money so that he can get more slaves to combat train for his town hence the fighting in the arena from before.

CHARACTERS 5q4n2w

All the characters in the show has been dumbed down and been given brain dead dialogues plus they have cut out major events in both season 2 and 3 so if you haven't read the light novel (LN) or the manga then good fucking luck figuring out what the Hell is going on with the characters. They will tell you what happened (not directly) in episode fucking 10. Like it wasn't bad enough they have the gull to introduce new characters without any build-up, no stakes, no connection fucking nothing and they expect you to care about them despite them not being given enough screen time to even be considered remotely important, and they try to force fake drama on you by showing some very adorable scenes with said new characters, like; "look how cute they are acting with Naofumi, you have to care about them now" ...how about you go fuck yourselves. No rhyme or reason to anything, they just expect you to care when they haven't even established a friendship yet of any kind but wait there is more they are also throwing in yet another harem cliche because fuck it why not right. Anyways let's go over the characters in excruciating pain.

Iwatani Naofumi

As if it wasn't confusing enough already -- Naofumi not knowing/cannot use his own strong abilities anymore because he is cursed and now is "dead weight" throughout the whole fucking show however his party aren't for some fucked reason despite having their status being cursed but it's only Naofumi that's worthless yet showing us that he can do stuff when it is needed because; fuck you, context. Then we have Naofumi distrust a lady (S'yne) that is trying to help him, for no reason whatsoever, but the other new characters he trusts no problem. Where is the fucking consistency?! Then they bring up that the slave crest (almost like a self-defense because they fucked up the writing) but if they thought of the slave crest than they could have fucking used it on S'yne as well, so again where is the fucking consistency?! Again let me reiterate that Naofumi knows the pain of being betrayed, having his honor and respect stripped away from him and being treated as an outcast. Being alone and hated and to not trust the humans of the country he was summoned to but that's the extent of it and sure while he isn't the happy flower to everyone he meets but he KNOWS when he isn't welcomed but more to the point that every "criminal charge" he had was taken care off, he has no means to be this distrusting.

The green haired b*tch got a chewing from Naofumi is S2 (which was never resolved by the way, they just left it) which happened for no reason I might add because if you it was Naofumi's idea to let her his party and to help her to not be useless, is even more fucking annoying here. Not only will she never shut the fuck up about Itsuki but she is more important (because she is given so much fucking screen time) than Naofumi, let that sink in for you, a side-character is more important than the main character...

Sadeena

Sadeena is a new character that immediately falls in love with Naofumi for no reason at all and is somehow connected to Raphtalia, again no context is given to why or how or fucking anything except for at the end where she tells Naofumi that she was a quote on quote "bodyguard" for Raphtalia and her family, however the writers went completely brain fucked here and decided that during the waves that Sadeena would go as far out in the ocean as possible where she can't protect shit and fight the wave. Then she just sits still in the water as Raphtalia falls down and not only that we are led to believe that given how strong Sadeena is (given that she can fight the waves on her own) she let's Raphtalia get captured and be brought into a slave trader.

Malty (Myne) slave crest is gone with no explanation to why and she can somehow convince/brain wash the heroes that she cares about them and that she is totally, completely, utterly, 100% there to help them and not to manipulate them, despite her before lied her ass off and was almost executed for her crimes.

Amaki Ren/Kitamura Motoyasu/Kawasumi Itsuki

All these so-called heroes have somehow gone "insane" and lost their party but they never explain why or how (like everything else) they do show some clips however where they were in the battle against the guardian beast (tortoise) in S2 even though they established that the heroes were taking care of the "waves" that was going on and still somehow managed to both take care of the waves (despite becoming stronger and stronger and they couldn't even take care of the other waves without Naofumi's help) and get to the guardian beast without actually having the knowledge of where it would be. In episode fucking 10 is where we get an "explanation" (not a direct one mind you) by Naofumi where he says and I quote: "it is the curse" the same curse that Naofumi, Raphtalia and Filo has and yet they show no symptoms of going crazy despite having the same curse like the others.

Also for some fucked reason normal people that can use magic are as strong as the heroes so what's the fucking point of summoning the heroes if they are so fucking powerful as to give the heroes a problem of being defeated. Everything that we know and has been building upon is out the window. This might be a minor thing but I want to briefly mention that every demi-human in the village that is leveling up never grows older despite being the same race as Raphtalia. Logic, sense and knowledge all gone. I could type even more here but I'm going insane so I rather save my sanity as much as possible.

This is where things gets really fucked and I could spend the rest of my life typing out things that doesn't make sense however I'm only going to touch upon a few things that annoyed me otherwise I will be here forever. There is an episode where they get a dragon (Gaelion), this cute little red dragon swallows a dark gem which makes it go absolutely bat-shit insane and this gem was from another world (keep this in mind). The dragon proceeds to fly away and the Naofumi and company has to go after it. Wyndia a new character to the series tells everyone that the dragon is her "father" despite her being from this world and not the other where Naofumi got the gem, however not even 2 minutes later she says that it isn't her father but as you may have guessed they change it yet again to say that it is her father, how you may ask? ...I couldn't tell ya, it just is, it's never established how. Moving on, when they go to defeat this dragon -- Atla a new character that was her on death bed and blind (yet can see) but got healed by Naofumi and someone that has never fought in her life suddenly is just a bad-ass a fighting and has this special ability that can damage a dragon's "armor" of scales whilst the rest can't... again how? Why? IF you can figure it out then please tell us mortals. Anyways, the cute little red dragon has become a huge black dragon and it swallowed the gem. They devise a plan to trap the dragon, and the dragon in question gets a barrier around him but for some reason Atla can't get through this barrier with her special ability but her older brother Fohl (yes another new character that is super weak by the way) can, and he doesn't have this super special unique ability. Oh and here comes another confusing part that I forgot to mention Filo got affected by the dragon swallowing the dark gem and is super weak but still decides to follow Naofumi and company to the dragon and yes she drags the carriage all the way loaded with many people that wanted to tag along despite being in her weakened condition. She also goes bat-shit insane and then proceeds to get swallowed up by the dragon, still alive though. After defeating the huge black dragon the little red dragon and Filo is just resting inside of the dragon's chest, you know the red dragon that somehow swallowed the gem and grew is now inside of the dragon... I can't, I just fucking can't. You want to know the best bit? Season 3 is filled with this inconsistent bullshit that makes no fucking sense whatsoever.

The animation quality got changed and degraded if you can believe that, it's mostly padded out with them having meals and dialogues that are arguably boring and unneeded. You could make a case for the battle animations being better but I digress. This season is much shorter than S1 and is one episode shorter than S2 so my guess is that they wanted to save on the budget by cutting out as much as possible and keep tedious scenes in to make the battles scenes a little better, I use that term loosely.

The music is actually kick-ass, I mean yeah I know it is subjective but the intro music is really good and the music that's in the anime is good but not great, they made some odd choices as to when to implement sad, jolly and/or action music. The transitions are kind of obtuse and obscure. SFX (or sound effects for those uninitiated) are as good if not better here though you would hope so, being that it is fucking season 3 of the show, but yeah they were more on the ball this time around with that.

This season is absolute garbage and it isn't going to get better. They have shown that they are incompetent and they refuse to follow the source material and are only after the money so they are gonna milk this series for all that it is worth and then cancel it when it goes down hill. It's like they tried to retcon the whole series without starting over. They made brain dead inconsistent decisions that will ultimately lead to failure and death. This series died with/in season 1 and if ever a season 4 comes out I will not watch it.

Yay! The Slave Hero is back in form!… Too bad nobody cares anymore. In case you missed the hypetrain, season 1 was its peak while revengeporn was the main objective. As soon as that was over and the protagonist became another generic overpowered isekai protagonist with his own harem, everyone noped out. Some tried to come back during the second season only to find a complete shitshow. Thus it doesn’t matter if the third season is better. Nobody cares, the hypetrain derailed, and there are now many other isekai to jump onto.

In case you don’t care about any of that and for some weird reason you are still curious, here is what has happened in this season. The Slave Hero buys hundreds of furry children and grooms them into building him a nation. You can sugarcoat all you want how well he treats them and it won’t make a difference. He is the owner of hundreds of animal children and he has them working in a sweatshop. And of course they are really grateful about it, because this is a sick power fantasy for edgelords. Thank you for buying us and have us building you a nation, Lord Naofumi! We are happy to be your tools! Slavery is good if you treat your slaves nicely!

I don’t know if anyone still re it, but the objective of this show was to stop the monster invasions. It’s completely sidelined by now in favor of the Slave Hero mocking the other three heroes and that bitch princess manipulating them into doing stupid things. Yes, the plotline that was supposed to be over since the first season is somehow still going on now because the author is out of ideas and just repeats the same story over and over. Without of course having the same impact since nobody cares after Naofumi got his revengeporn and now owns his own slave nation of children to groom as he fancies. Sick incel power fantasies are cool.

You would think the incel protagonist has enough to rebuild his life by now. Because that was also his initial goal, if anyone still re. To rebuild his life after the bitch princess ruined everything, he was stuck with a shield that can’t use attack magic, and nobody wanted to be part of his team. Well, guess what, he now has a billion times more than when he was just an average Japanese guy who got sucked into a book. But no, he keeps adding more waifus to his harem and you can bet your ass the raccoon waifu is going to be really salty about it and will be cock blocking them as usual. Yes, even that plotline keeps repeating because the author is out of ideas.

Wait a second, how exactly does this show manage to hide all these sick fetishes so the five people who still watch this trash will get joy out of it? Oh, right by having evil slavers attacking! And they intend to sell the furry children for profit. What an evil thing to do. Slavery is evil and should not be ed by anyone. The main character is of course the exception. He will teleport out of nowhere with his harem to rescue his property (the children he grooms) and will then punish the slavers who dared to do such an evil thing, by making them slaves. Haha! That will teach them how evil slavery is! Unless it’s him who’s doing the slavery. It’s perfectly fine in that case. Because he deserves it! He is just rebuilding his life after all the terrible things that happened to him, boohoohoo! Give the man a slave nation and his own L’Oreal commercial!

Why the heck would anyone still watch this trash, if not to waste his time? There is nothing good in it. And the truth is there never was, but the revengeporn plot in the first season fooled a lot of people to think it’s deep. Well it’s not, it’s just another isekai about a pedo groomer with broken powers and an ever expanding harem of women who love to be enslaved by him. The monster invasions and the salvation of the world never mattered. Onwards to enslaving more children and making it look like it’s good!
