Explains a lot of things that would have been interesting to know in the first season, like the magic system or how the Mafia is structured or the history of their country and its political situation.
All important things that would've given the viewer context to help them get invested in what's going on. However, I felt it came way too late, and was unfortunately communicated almost entirely via blatant exposition, often involving characters or organisations that have never come up before. It honestly made my eyes glaze over at various points.
The story and characters are fine in theory, but the structure and storytelling were hugely problematic to me.
There are good things of course. The disparate plot threads all come together, finishing everything up with a conclusive ending.
Still, despite the consistently above average production values, I really struggled to finish watching it. Not bad, but mediocre.
