Nanase Haruka feels something special when he touches water. The medley relay was the last competition he was able to participate in during elementary school. Haruka, along with Tachibana Makoto, Hazuki Nagisa, and Matsuoka Rin, saw something they'd never seen before. In spring, with the cherry blossoms in full bloom. Haruka moves on to Iwatobi Middle School with Makoto and starts a new life. Both enter the swim team, and plan to compete in the medley relay together with Shiina Asahi and Kirishima Ikuya. All four students have different objectives and ways of thinking, and different baggage they're carrying, and so their practice for the relay hasn't been going well.

"Free Starting Days" is an outstanding animated movie that follows the journey of a group of middle school students as they navigate the challenges and triumphs of competitive swimming. The film is an emotional rollercoaster that takes you on an intimate journey with the characters, as they face personal struggles and triumphs both in and out of the pool. The animation is incredibly vibrant and dynamic, capturing both the intensity and beauty of the sport. The characters are very well designed and each one has a unique personality. The film showcases the dedication and ion these young swimmers have, and how it shapes them as individuals. The performances from the voice cast are superb, particularly the lead characters, who perfectly capture the energy, dedication, and vulnerability of their characters. The swimming scenes are expertly animated, it's a visual feast that captures the intensity and beauty of the sport. It is a must-watch for anyone who loves swimming or coming-of-age.

Four highly talented boys come together to form a swimming relay team but they have some baggage they need to get over before they can compete seriously against others.

Not bad, but when compared to highly fun stories like Haikyu this was disappointing. Still, there aren't any other swimming animes, so that makes this sort of unique.

Also animation was great.
